A crypto airdrop is a promotional distribution of free cryptocurrency tokens directly into eligible wallet addresses. Projects use airdrops to bootstrap initial community, incentivize testnet usage, and decentralize token governance.
Security is paramount. Never use your primary cold storage wallet for farming. Set up a dedicated, empty "burner" wallet for testnets. Never type your seed phrase or private key into any claiming portal, and always check official handles on X/Twitter to avoid spoofing.
Testnet airdrops are 100% free because they only require gas paid in worthless test tokens. Mainnet airdrops require "real" capital: you will need actual Ethereum or Solana to cover transaction fees (gas), or to stake/deposit as protocol liquidity.
